Health care for anyone in the military is free–no co-pay, no deductible. Nada. Zip. Servicemen may complain about their medical care (don’t we all, which is what got us into this mess. Now 65% of people rate their health care good to excellent), but it costs them nothing to go back again and again until they get resolution.
The news gets better. It appears, even if the health care bill stumbles across the finish line and becomes the law of the land, the 26 million veterans and the nearly two million personnel now on active duty in more than 130 countries will be exempted, thanks to the persuasive powers of their lobbyists. I’m delighted service members will be let off this particular hook, but why doesn’t everyone else warrant the same dispensation?

An Honorable Discharge
Democrats give veterans a pass from ObamaCare.
Yes, more than a few Democrats will claim that the Veterans Administration health program is the liberal Shangri-la: an integrated single-payer system in which government pays VA doctors directly and owns and runs VA hospitals. Yet the original House bill found even this inadequate. The VA’s benefits package, for example, doesn’t cover maternity care and, with few exceptions, doesn’t cover spouses or children. That could have exposed veterans to a 2.5% tax punishment, while other tax penalties would make it more onerous for civilian businesses to hire military reservists.
The American Legion also worried that the VA system could be “infringed by any national health care organizations or any other departments, agencies or independent organizations of the federal government.” One reason the VA works as well as it does is that it specializes in service-related disabilities and the unique needs of combat veterans. Not all veterans qualify as beneficiaries, and it doesn’t focus on basic services—allowing its limited budget to flow to the most urgent priorities.
Essentially, the veterans groups were worried that Democrats would regulate even government-run health care to death. If Democrats won’t force “universal” coverage on vets, they shouldn’t force it on anyone.
USNA or Bust! 
All obama will do is outsource anyways. Just think about the all the lobbyists flocking to Washington DC because of obama’s reckless over-spending of $2 TRILLION in just 6 months, which alone is increasing the National Debt by 20%.
Politicians take people’s money and reward the large corporations, in this case companies in the health care industry, since they have the money to more effectively lobby politicians. In the end smaller businesses will be hurt.
Politicians will only reward companies that will be in their best political interest. Honestly, when can you really trust politicians since they are basically professional liars, and being president just means you are the best liar of the time. Why not just give the money directly from the people to the companies and take politicians in government out of the equation?
obama is going to recklessly spend TRILLIONS of tax payers’ money just to give insurance to about 25% of those who do not have it. Over 50% of people’s income go towards taxes, just imagine how many more people will afford health care insurance if their income is almost doubled because of dramatic tax cuts.
Competition is what is needed. It lowers prices of products and services, along with developing new innovations. All of which will benefit consumers. You need to remember that monopolistic tendencies can also apply to government.
The reason why the cost of insurance is high is because politicians in government mandate insurance companies to increase their premiums to pay for ridiculous things. In addition, politicians put up regulations so that Americans are not allowed to get insurance from another state and use the coverage in their own state. This reduces competition making it more expensive for people to get insurance. On top of that medical professionals are not allowed to freely practice their profession in any US state without taking a long and tedious licensing process. This again increases the cost of medical insurance.
In the end, the problem with most economic issues is too much government intervention of the economy by politicians, who will only tend to do things for political self interest. Just like how obama nationalized GM to pander to its unions. Politicians can barely run government, yet people think they can run a multi-national auto manufacturing company?
The solution is SMALLER government, LESS spending, and LOWER taxes.

I’m an econ major, and there is no argument in my mind that capitalism, with supply and demand, does the better job of running national economies than any type with government intervention.

If nothing is done we will turn into a third world nation like Brazil. A nation of those with money and services to a country only the rich with service. Health care as it is now will break us in the years to come.

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t believe health care needs to be fixed. But, the ‘fix’ can’t make the problem worse. So let’s define the problem and go from there.

A health care system giving help to all Americans will help the VA focus on those who were injured in combat. Something the VA has not done because it was too busy filling the gap of no health care system at all. Help those wounded in body and soul in war and pass a national health care system. Give the VA back to combat veterans.
